Ravensbrück Women's Concentration Camp
Ravensbrück Women's Concentration Camp photos from the early 1940s. A strip of three photos shows a woman in three positions. Below the photos, it says FLK Ravensbrück (Frauen Konzentrationslager), Group 1140, Inmate 3508.
On the bottom, it says, "Rutl Sara Snopch, born February 17, 1915."
From her low inmate number, we assume she was about 25 years old and among the early groups transported there. By the end of 1939, there were 2,000 inmates at the camp. There were almost 11,000 in late 1942, and over 70,000 prisoners in 1944. Nazis kept meticulous records, but some records were destroyed.
